Hey, everyone! I’m Jessica, the founder behind The Hook Nook, and I REALLY like to make pretty things. For the last several years I’ve gone from teaching myself to crochet, to selling my makes to friends and family, to opening an Etsy shop, to pattern designing and now I am so fortunate to have worked with some of the biggest brands and companies in the fiber industry from all around the world. You can now find my own The Hook Nook brand designer crochet hooks, yarn and craft accessories at in my online shop and at various retailers!

Turning Point Triangle Scarf CAL : Week Two

The Hook Nook
12/23/2019

Week Two starts NOW!

How was your Week One?! Goodness, outside of the CAL, my kids finished with school and entered winter break, I visited with family and even ran four loads of laundry. I know, I know.. What an exhilarating week. Either way, I also get to celebrate the fact that my kids and I had SO much fun yesterday morning. I scooped them up within minutes of them waking up and got them into the car to get some Starbucks yummies and let their Daddy sleep a little bit longer. We got breakfast to-go and explored our local community.

Today, they're still in their pajamas all cuddled up on the couch watching Disney+. It's moments like this that make me truly treasure the life that I get to live. *sigh*

Alright, let's take a break for my moment of gratefulness and get refocused onto our project - the Turning Point Triangle Scarf!

Picking up this week, we are going to work a few more color repeat sections and give ourselves some more time to spend with ourselves during this busy holiday season. Are you ready? Let's get started!

**Check out my Week One post before beginning this next section.

Ok, last week we all started our Turning Point Triangle Scarf and (hopefully) finished the first of each color section after assembling all of the needed materials. I do want to take a moment and acknowledge a stitch count error that was on the Week One post. The noted stitch counts for Color B and Color C sections were incorrect, but have been fixed now. We will be increasing at the same rate for the entirety of the pattern, so always remember that.

Week Two begins two days before Christmas. I know many people do not celebrate this holiday for various reasons, but my family does celebrate it and it's a really important holiday to me. This week while we work on the next section of this project, some of us may be traveling while others may be staying close to home. Some of us may be experiencing full Christmas cheer, while others are filled with pain and grief and experience a shadowed version. During these next few days, I challenge you to do something that can give someone a smile.

Maybe you hold open a door for someone, or pay for someone's coffee behind you in line, or just simply smile at someone across the room. Maybe you reach out to someone you haven't talked to in awhile. Maybe you take your kid(s) out for a date. Maybe you take yourself out on a date, because it's you that needs that smile today. I, personally, love to store up my points in the Starbucks app and use the points to pay for customers orders who are behind me in line. There has also been an instance where I happened to have a $10 bill on me and a customer at the grocery store was $8 shy to afford his groceries so I (awkwardly because that's me) turned around, handed the cashier the $10 and ran away with my bagged groceries.

If we are open to looking for opportunities to be a blessing to others, the opportunities will present themselves and the reward is not only making someone else's day brighter, but there is a healing and a reward in allowing yourself to do something for the intended joy of someone else. Isn't that one of the reasons that makes this season so magical? Many in my community are seeking ways to help the homeless in our community, others are helping the animals at the shelter, and some are also helping their families who need assistance and support.

No matter how you find yourself to be a blessing to someone else, all that matters is that you take the opportunity and not allow it to pass by. Do the things that seem hard and scary, but watch the magic unfold once you decide to let it take shape.

Let's get started!
