Aloha! My name is Tonja and I’m the designer behind Pink Plumeria Maui. I am so very excited to be back on The Hook Nook blog today with my new pattern the Ku’uipo Scarf!
Ku’uipo, pronounced [k-u-u-E-po] means sweetheart in the Hawaiian Language. When I received the beautiful new yarn Small Stuff from Jessica at The Hook Nook, I immediately felt the love that was put into designing it. As I brainstormed an idea, I wanted something that would reflect the yarn as well as Jessica’s warm personality. The Ku’uipo Scarf is designed to wear with a pair of jeans, to dress up your work attire or throw over your shoulders at a wedding. It can be worn anywhere, with anything and make you feel like a sweetheart.
I have been crocheting for five and half years and I love to create fun and functional patterns. I learned to crochet while my mom was visiting after my third son was born. My first projects where dish clothes, bags and blankets. I started publishing patterns in August 2018 and it has brought so much joy to my life. I’m a full time mom to four boys and live in Maui. I find a lot of my inspiration from my surroundings and I’m always trying to incorporate colors and textures that I see into my patterns.
I hope you love Jessica’s new yarn and this pattern as much as I do!
