Creating our own clothing can be both intimidating yet very, VERY rewarding! Hey, guys! Jessica here from The Hook Nook and I’m so excited to bring you an easy crochet pattern to create your own Juliet Vest!
I know, I know. Making something you can actually wear seems extremely daunting and difficult. But I promise you. You CAN do it. All you need to know are some basic crochet stitches, some Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick And Quick yarn (I chose Claret and Wheat!), a size N/10mm crochet hook (I used a Susan Bates Bamboo Handled one!), download THIS pattern, and some quiet moments in your day to chug away at your soon-to-be vest! Best part? I found all of my supplies at my local Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store! Let’s begin!
This pattern is written to fit a size small. To make additional sizes, see the table below:

Small: 2-4 | 50 | 49 | 17, 15
Medium: 6-8 | 54 | 53 | 19, 17
Large: 10-12 | 58 | 57 | 21, 19
XL: 14-16 | 62 | 61 | 23, 21
2XL: 18-20 | 66 | 65 | 25, 23
Don’t forget! For making larger sizes, you will need additional skeins of yarn. Keep this in mind when buying your yarn! But who hates buying MORE yarn anyway? Not me!
When creating the seam on the side, try putting two Sl St in the ribbing section then alternating putting one into the HDC St of both pieces then into the large hole (CH-1 space) of both pieces. This will keep your Sl Sts even.
To create even stitches along the collar section (using the Claret, not Wheat), consider putting one HDC per row on the front panels (alternate placing them into the HDC as well as into the CH-1 space.
My favorite part of the vest was being able to customize it by adding a slip stitch design around the collar portion. It’s such an easy, yet fun way to tie in both colors. It would be so much fun to add pom poms on the back, fringe on the bottom, a beautiful brooch or anything that would allow the vest to truly feel like YOURS. Creating your clothing is so empowering and rewarding! I highly encourage you to see exactly what I mean!
