Welcome to a new blog series where I have asked makers to share their favorite stitches! I have recruited a handful of makers to work with me in the following year and am calling them my "Dream Team"! They are a unique group of talented makers who have been featured several times on the blog. This summer I have asked, THN Dream Team member, Brianna Iaropoli, to share some of her favorite stitches starting with the Diamond Stitch!

Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations

Chain Stitch – ch – yarn over, pull yarn through stitch on hook.

Slip Stitch – sl st – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull yarn through both

loops on hook.

Single Crochet – sc – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull up a loop, (2

loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.

Double Crochet – dc – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, pull up a loop, (3

loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through remaining

loops.

Foundation Single Crochet – Fsc – Chain 2, insert hook into 2 nd chain from hook, yarn

over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook,

yarn over and pull through both loops, (1 foundation single crochet with chain at the

bottom) *Insert hook to the bottom of the stitch you just made, it will look like the top

or “V” of a stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull up a loop (2

loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all loops* repeat for desired amount of stitches.

Front Post Treble Crochet – FPtr – Yarn over hook TWICE, insert hook from front to

back around the SC of the previous row, yarn over, pull up a loop, (4 loops on hook),

yarn over, pull through 2 loops, (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loop, (2

loops on hook), yarn over and pull through last 2 loops on hook.

FPtr2tog – Work your first FPtr round the designates stitch, then when you have 2

loops left, begin your next FPtr around the next designated stitch, then finish the

stitch as one.

*  – Designates a repeat.

Ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Ch 2 does count as a stitch.

6.00mm Crochet Hook

Yarn Needle

Scissors

#4 Worsted Wt. Yarn

Lion Brand Wool-Ease - Gold

Gauge

14 sts x 16 rows is 4”x4” in sc

Swatch – Worked in multiples of 4 + 2 for a Fsc or 4 + 3 if working with a starting chain.

Stitch

Row 1

Fsc 30, 30 total stitches.

Row 2

Ch 2, turn, dc in next 29 sts.

Row 3

Ch 1, turn, FPtr around third sc of Row 1, *sc in next 3 sts, FPtr2tog around last stitch

worked, skip 3-sc sts and FPtr around next sc-st. Repeat from * to end. Sc in next 3 sts, FPtr

around last FPtr worked, place sc in turning ch-2.

Row 4

Repeat Row 2

Row 5

Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, FPtr 2 TOG around first and next FPtr, *sc in next 3 sts, FPtr 2

TOG around last FPtr worked and next FPtr. Repeat from * to end. Sc in last 3 sts.

Row 6

Repeat Row 2

Row 7

Ch 1, turn, FPtr around first FPtr 2 TOG, *sc in next 3 sts, FPtr 2 TOG around last FPtr

worked and next FPtr. Repeat from * to end. Sc in next 3 sts, FPtr around last FPtr worked,

place sc in turning ch-2.

Row 8 and on

Repeat Rows 4 to 7 to desired length.
