Honey Honey Ponchette Crochet Pattern by Ceilidh Corcoran

6/29/2021

The Honey Honey Ponchette is so fun to make with easy row repeats and a super cute outcome.  This adorable Ponchette is made in two pieces then stitched together.  The first panel is the Honeycomb, and the second a classic Simple Chevron. This shawl uses two colours of Small Stuff from The Hook Nook and is worked back and forth across the row.  Honey, Honey you are going to love this pattern.

Materials

Small Stuff Yarn (DK weight yarn), pattern details are using Warm Sunshine Small Stuff 2 Skeins 546 yds (520m) and Tattoo Ink Small Stuff 69 yds (65m)

5.0mm crochet hook (or what hook you need to obtain gauge)

Darning Needle

Scissors

Gauge

Gauge is important in this pattern. If your gauge is too small go up a hook size, if your gauge is too large, go down a hook size.

13 HDC X 8rows = 4”x4” (10cm x 10cm) square

Notes

This pattern is worked in two panels; the Honeycomb and the Simple Chevron, then slip stitched together

The Honeycomb panel measures 14 ¾” wide x 13 ½”long

The Chevron panel measures 13 ½” wide x 39 ½”long

Overall measurements for the Ponchette are 29” x 24 ½” with a 91/2” head opening

This pattern is worked in back and forth across the row for each panel

The CH 1 on the Honeycomb panel does not count as a stitch; the Ch3 on the Chevron Panel does count as a stitch

Everyone has their own way of changing colours but I find on your last yarn over before completing your last DC of the row, changing colours there gives you a super clean transition.

Fold your Chevron panel in half lengthwise, with the right side facing in and line it up along the Honeycomb panel as shown below. You should have the right sides facing in on both panels.  Then you will SLST the length of the Honeycomb to the Chevron up to 20 rows on each side then sew in your tails and flip inside out and you are done!!
